Man shot in London was Brazilian

The details are slowly coming out on the shooting of a man in London by Police yesterday

the police have said the man has been identified "as Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes, 27. "
i am not keen on jumping to conclusions but it would 'appear' that the male wasn't Muslim and could well have been of Catholic decent

the police statement added

"We believe we now know the identity of the man shot at Stockwell Underground station by police on Friday 22nd July 2005, although he is still subject to formal identification.
"We are now satisfied that he was not connected with the incidents of Thursday 21st July 2005.
"For somebody to lose their life in such circumstances is a tragedy and one that the Metropolitan Police Service regrets."

whilst also stating that brazilian diplomats have been informed

Good example set by the Muslim Council of Britain

The Muslim council of Britain has released a press statement on the tragic shooting of a British Muslim yesterday. Here

considering the events taking place in the UK i feel the response from the Muslim council has been measured and sensible and they are showing good leadership at this time for those of the Muslim faith .

the statement in full

'MCB expresses deep concern over mistaken killing in Stockwell
The Muslim Council of Britain expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the innocent man who was shot dead yesterday by the police in Stockwell, South London. “While we accept that the police are under tremendous pressure to apprehend the criminals who are attempting to cause carnage on the streets of London, it is absolutely vital that utmost care is taken to ensure that innocent people are not killed due to overzealousness,” said Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain. The MCB has received numerous calls from distressed British Muslims since the killing in Stockwell. We have also received several reports of young Muslim men who were going about their everyday business being forced to the ground by plain clothes officers and who are now very fearful. “We are all going through a difficult period. Following yesterday’s release of the CCTV images, all of us – Muslim and non-Muslim - must be united in helping the police identify and bring to justice those who are plotting the mass murder of innocent Britons. At the same time, the police also have a duty of care to ensure that they do everything humanly possible to protect innocent members of the public and prevent needless deaths,” added Sir Iqbal. The MCB understands that this killing is now being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission and urges everyone to await its findings. '

Draft constitution highlights how little has changed

It seem's if you want to change the middle east then the cool thing to do is invade , install a puppet regime and tell them what to do ..

but this doesnt seemed to have worked in the case of Iraq , we announced here previously that the draft constitution being prepared in Iraq seems to be willing to place womens rights in the country in a position even worse then it was under Saddam

now it seems that the US attempts to make the Middle east safer for Israel has also failed , as many already knew , the wounds run much deeper than can be solved by the barrel of a gun

the new draft states that Iraq is willing to allow any person on earth to apply for Iraqi nationality aslong as they comply with a few simple points

(1) he has lived in the country for at least ten years
(2) he has good character and behavior
(3) he has no criminal judgements
(4) and that he is not from Israel

exact quote as follows

"Any individual with another nationality (except for Israel) may obtain Iraqi nationality after a period of residency inside the borders of Iraq of not less than ten years for an Arab or twenty years for any other nationality, as long as he has good character and behavior, and has no criminal judgment against him from the Iraqi authorities during the time of his residency on the territory of the Iraqi republic. "

does it seem to you that after all this time , the Iraq being formed has the potential to be even worse then the Iraq pre 2003

News flash :Bombs blast Egypt

News is coming in of a series of explosions that have rocked Egypt , so far at least 36 people are known to be dead and at least100 injured

early opinion looks to be suggesting car bombs

"There was shrapnel everywhere, the front of the hotel had been completely blown away, a couple of bodies lying down on the front of the road - I have no idea if they were alive or severely injured,"

Muslim Council of Britain asks government to recognise the role of Iraq

The Muslim Council of Great Britain today asked the British Government to 'recognise the role that the Iraq war is playing in radicalising young Muslims'

"There is no doubt that Iraq is a important factor in the disenchantment that we have seen among some Muslim youths," said council spokesman Inayat Bunglawala.

"It's about time that the government acknowledged, that the government must not completely ignore the Iraqi factor," he said.

Shoot to kill !

A young british male who had been under surveillance since the failed attack in London yesterday has been killed by armed police on a train full of people at Stockwell Tube station

It appears that the man 'wearing a bulky jacket' refused to stop when requested by police and a chase began as the man jumped the ticket barrier and three armed police officers ran after the man.

The male ran onto a train at Stockwell station but was running so fast that he tripped .
Two of the Police officers jumped on top of the man and held him down whilst the third fired five shots into the head of the male using a black handgun . Many passengers on the train are in shock at this time .

It is coming to light that there has been a change in the instructions issued to armed police due to the new ' suicide bomber' threat to the UK . Under normal procedure the armed officers would aim for the chest in order to disable the suspect but it seems 'secret guidance' has been issued that allows the officers to shoot to kill

'Police knew the underground would be attacked yesterday'

The Daily Mirror is claiming that Londons 'scotland yard' had prior knowledge of yesterday's attack

The paper states that an informant gave police 'certain information' that suggested an attack this week. but the 'informant' was unable to give more details on times or locations

It seems the police concluded that the attack would be Thursday as it would match with the attack two weeks ago

The underground was flooded with 'undercover armed police' yesterday and armed units were dispatched(to Farringdon station) but were unable to get there in time

Also of note in the Mirror story is an unconfirmed police statement "They think the terrorists may have not yet been fully trained but were sent into action anyway"

Some interesting quotes from the BBC reporters

These quotes have built up through the day on the issue of the latest London attack....

'According to an eyewitness here people have spoken of smelling smoke on the northbound Victoria Line and an eyewitness has spoken of people running off and leaving their shoes and belongings when they smelled that smoke'

'That has all been evacuated and that's all the information that they are giving us at the moment'

'One man said he had been told a person had thrown a rucksack on a Tube train and jumped out just before the doors closed, that there was a bang with smoke and people had fled.'

'At the same time she said she heard a small detonation and the smell of smoke. I couldn't quite work out from her whether she was talking about just smoke from a fire... she had to leave in a hurry and the police were taking her away.

She seemed to give the impression that it may have been tear gas or something. It would be consistent with a tear gas grenade, a small bang, a flash and the smell of acrid smoke. That was what she seemed to be describing. '

Among those hoping for the all-clear to be given is Reverend Nabil F Shehadi who was asked to be on hand by the Bishop of Kensington.

"People so far have just been asking how they can get home," he said. "The ironic thing is that my next position is as vicar of Beirut and I'm wondering which is safer

'On first sight there are similarities to what happened two weeks ago.

But the timing is slightly odd, much later in the day rather than rush hour for maximum damage.'

'I'm standing less that 100 yards from the Oval Tube station. Whatever the police have found down there, they are not telling us. '

these quotes in the main have come from the BBC

US Extends Patriot Act by 10 years !

'The House voted overwhelmingly Thursday to extend the USA Patriot Act, the nation's main anti-terrorism tool, just hours after televisions in the Capitol beamed images of a new attack in London. '

Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the top Democrat on the committee, said that while "I support the majority of the 166 provisions of the Patriot Act," the extensions could lessen accountability. "Ten years is not a sunset; 10 years is semi-permanent

Saddam complains of no access to a lawyer

A video was released today of a recent unknown court appearence by Saddam Hussein

Saddam seemed to have a number of issues he wished to raise along with the claim that he had been denied access to his lawyers

"The lawyer only sees his client when there is an investigation session. Is this the law?" Saddam said

other points of note from the ex dictator include

'Saddam complained that when he greeted the judges, he got no response.
"When someone like me says 'Peace be upon you,' and no one responds, then this is a big insult for someone like Saddam Hussein," he said.'

'Saddam also said his arrest and detention by the Iraqi government was a joke, since the Americans were the ones with power.
"I am under detention. This is what is being said. It is a game," he told the judge, in an apparent reference to being held at a U.S. military base' Yahoo news

Facts so far : The new London attack

from early indications the Devices were Put together in a way "very similar" to the devices used two weeks ago

again we have the use of rucksacks

again the targets are the same (three tube trains and a bus)

there is speculation that the devices used on this attack are from the same "batch" as 2 weeks ago

the devices are "home made"

detailed chemical analysis is taking place to confim that it was "explosive"

the events :

a small explosion reported reported on an unerground train at shepherds bush

at the oval a man is seen running from the scene after witnesses heard a bang on a train

warren street "bang" heard at the front area of the train ,

hackney road . explosion reported on top deck of a bus

the statement has been made that searches for chemical and other agents have been made and "none were found"

apart from that , there is little confirmed at this point

US defence asks Congress to raise recruitment age to 42 !

the US Defence department quietly asked congress on monday if they would raise the age limit for recruits 'for all branches of the service'

it is well known that the US military has for some time had major recruitment problems so defence officials have responded with these new “urgent wartime support initiatives”

for all the info check out Army times

I can't see that helping recruiting goals all that much. Maybe they are just getting ready for a draft. We are stretched far to thin too invade Iran and Syria now. If there was a draft I would imagine many would object and leave the country (more so then Nam). So maybe the higher age limit would help to compensate for that loss.

Man who tried to assassinate Bush no longer escapes capture

Reuters are reporting that Georgian police have failed to capture the man they believe is guilty of throwing a grenade during a speech the President made whilst visiting the country in May.

Local reporters talk of a gun fight between the police and the suspect in which 'One policeman was killed and the suspect was wounded'

'U.S. officials said at the time that the grenade only failed to explode because of a malfunction and landed within 30 meters (100 feet) of the President as he spoke to tens of thousands of people in Tbilisi's Freedom Square'

Update CBS is reporting that the man has now been captured

'The incident occurred Wednesday evening in a village outside the capital Tbilisi. The suspect fled into the woods, but was later captured, ministry spokesman Guram Donadze told The Associated Press'

UK Government 'stops' Iraq war book from publication

Sir Jeremy Greenstock who was London's ambassador to the U.N during the Build up to the Iraq war has written a book "The Costs of War" and this memior was due for public release this september.

in the book sir Greenstock describes the decision by the United States to go to war as "politically illegitimate"

but the british government has delayed publication citing "privileged conversations with Prime Minister Tony Blair have been violated"

it seems the book will only be cleared for publication once the author removes portions of the book that draw on private conversations with Blair and Foreign Secretary Jack Straw.

Iraq to become more "islamic" than it was under saddam

a working draft of the new iraqi constitution appears to be heading towards creating an islamic state very different than the multi religious dictatorship the country had under saddam

"Iraq constitution cedes a strong role to Islamic law and could curb women's rights, particularly in personal matters like divorce and family inheritance. "

it seems discussions are taking place on reversing some laws defined last year in the interim Constitution in particular the requirment that at least a quarter of the Iraqi Parliament should be made up of women

this seems another example of true democracy being impossible when delivered by the barrel of a gun

3 UK soldiers "to face war crimes trial"

News is just breaking that three british servicemen have been charged with "inhuman treatment of detainees in Iraq". The charges have been brought under the International Criminal Court Act of 2001

the trials will take place in the United Kindgdom and not at the usual international court at the Hague

no details as yet have been released regarding the alleged offences

for more information goto the BBC

update :

Defence Secretary John Reid said in a statement that allegations against British servicemen should be investigated but that the men were innocent until proven guilty.

He said: "Today the independent Army Prosecuting Authority has brought charges under British military law that will be heard in a British court-martial."

"Anyone accused is innocent until proved guilty and it is for the courts martial to consider the evidence in any case and reach a verdict.

"Inhuman treatment of a person protected by the Geneva Conventions has been an offence under English law since 1957."

There are many british soldiers with dirty pictures and mind-screwed memories of their actions in Iraq. Anyone who participated with America in this evil war is a criminal and should be snuffed out. Only suckers disagree...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at July 20, 2005 8:52 pm

maybe so but there are also many that dont .

Being a tax payer which i am sure you are i assume you include yourself as one of those "criminals"

i dont think it is fair to blame the "soldiers" for following the instructions of their political masters

but if your looking for those to blame then maybe pointing a finger at the neocon thinktank "the project for a new american century" would be more appropriate

By Blogger _H_, at July 20, 2005 9:08 pm

also "snuffing" out people is what got us here in the first place

you actually want your voice to be heard ? you dont get there by snuffing out every person you can attach to the war in anyway ..

what is your aim ? world destruction ?

how about world peace ?

New Al Qaeda statement warns europe of fresh attacks

Al-Qaeda has made a new statement warning European nations to pull their troops out of Iraq before the 15th of august or face more attacks like london ..

a small sample of the statement follows ....

This message is the final warning to European states. We want to give you a one-month deadline to bring your soldiers out from the land of Mesopotamia (Iraq),"
After August 15, "there will be no more messages, just actions that will be engraved on the heart of Europe.
"It will be a bloody war in the service of God," "It's a message we are addressing to the crusaders who are still present in Iraq -- Denmark, the Netherlands, Britain, Italy and those other countries whose troops continue to criss-cross Iraqi territory.
"These are our last words. The mujahedeen, who are on the lookout, will have other words to say in your capitals."

more information on the new statement can be found at Yahoo.com

it feeels there is little new in the "new" statement .. haven't we had the "there will be no more messages" bit before

this message appears to have come from the same "claimed" branch of alqaeda that announced over the internet responsibility for the London attacks on the 7th (Europe Division)

it should be noted of course that this particular group has already been open to some doubt , many muslim experts have said the style of the statement and basic errors in previous statements when quoting from the Quran doesn't fit with previous authentic statements

This is a very old article that many people seem to be finding

it was posted by myself on Tuesday, July 19, 2005

there have been many statements since that date by Al-Qaeda , and if that is what you are looking for then you can find out more by searching from the home page

Patients left to fend for themselves in chaotic wards.

More than two dozen doctors walked out of one of Baghdad's busiest hospitals on Tuesday to protest what they said was abuse by Iraqi soldiers, leaving about 100 patients to fend for themselves in chaotic wards. Here

"I stayed quiet but relatives of the patients told him to calm down before pulling him out of the room. Just then, four more soldiers came in and pointed a rifle at my head. At that point I became scared and begged them to leave me alone."
Ministry of Defense officials were not available for comment on the incident despite repeated requests. "

the situation in Iraq is far beyond a joke . the climate of intimidation grows each day from every and any source .

if you live in Iraq . who could make you safe ? it seems everyone has their own agenda ...

your Constitution or you life

"The attack occurred as the committee drafting the constitution was holding a meeting at Baghdad's Convention Center on the edge of the heavily fortified Green Zone, home to the U.S. Embassy and Iraqi government offices. The meeting was immediately adjourned when the head of the commission Humam Hammoudi got the news"

Unnamed, Unnoticed (Iraqi suffering examined)

The lack of "official" figures, however, shouldn't absolve the media from their blindness to Iraqi suffering, since available figures, incomplete as they are, are staggering for a guerrilla war. Reliable sources have certainly done their best to count, sources like IBC, Brookings, and the Iraqi and American epidemiologists who estimated in a study published in the British medical journal the Lancet that 100,000 Iraqis might have died in the war by September, 2004 Here

Update:

Angry Iraqi citizens start to form their own militia

Iraqis have begun barricading themselves in their homes and forming neighborhood militias in an effort to fend off relentless suicide attacks

"The plans of the interior and defense ministries to impose security in Iraq have failed," Khudair al-Khuzai told parliament during a heated session following the latest blast. "We need to bring back popular militias," he said

Here

This is so sad that it has come to this. Every minute of everyday brings Iraq closer and closer to civil war.

I read an interesting article today regarding "Radical" Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr. It was amazing to see him singing a different tune about the occupiers. He basically told his followers to 'stand down' against the occupiers (us). Sadr went on to say he fells that we aren't there as aggressors (which is a 360 degree turn around from what he has said in the past) He seemed very rational, and spoke of the state of Iraq. I believe what he said was after the past weeks bombings they are inches from a very serious civil war.

My thought is;
is it possible we have been negotiating with Sadr all along. Could it possibly be we bought him off? Could this maybe be the next puppet dictator?

There is no way all the people of Iraq are going to agree on a constitution. Isn't this basically how we set up Saddam in the first place?

yes exactly how we set up saddam .. i just watched the full sadr interview on the BBC

as you say interesting reading . it seems that sadr is hedging his bets . on the one hand his supporters are supporting the democratic process(i think he has 13 members in the iraq puppet government) and on the other he is slowly moving towards having his own armed miltia in almost all towns in the south of iraq

the british and american seem to be allowing him to do this so now on any one street in iraq you could have

american soldiers
British soldiers
Iraqi soldiers
Iraqi police
Local Based Militia
and sadr's Militia

sadr said in the interview

Resistance is legitimate at all levels be it religious, intellectual and so on," Mr Sadr said, in his first interview with Western media.

"The first person who would acknowledge this is the so-called American President Bush who said 'if my country is occupied, I will fight'."

so i think he is being carefull with his words but it is clear that if (and you know i mean when) democracy fails in iraq his troops will be already in position to start the revolution

sadr want's a Muslim run country and is willing to get it via democracy but once in power he would be the shia version of the sunni saddam

there are alot of cards being held under the table in this

as for the civil war . i dont think there is any other name for it

sunni killing shia , shia killing sunni , every day !

thats a civil war in any book if you ask me

FBI Monitored Web Sites for 2004 Protests

"It's increasingly clear that the government is involved in political surveillance of organizations that are involved in nothing more than lawful First Amendment activities,"

It raises very serious questions about whether the FBI is back to its old tricks."

"It's one thing to monitor protests and protest organizers, but quite another thing to refer them to your counterterrorism unit

Here

Britain debates new terrorism laws

As predicted by so many the United kingdom takes the next step today towards copying America's Patriot act Here

Not mentioned(unless updated) in the article but much discussed on English Television is the concept that "Terrorist web sites" will become illigal to access.

Being patriotic as i am and not wanting to break the law i decided it best to check out what they mean . so i decided to look up "terrorist" in the most common UK english dictionary....

According to the tenth edition of the Concise Oxford Dictionary `terrorist' is a person who uses violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims

lets double check and try websters....

Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary describes the word terrorism as the `systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion.

hmm ok

well this seems to fit well with the UK and US policies on Iraq over the last decade ..
Some could even assume that political aim might be called oil ?
The violence .. well lets call that "shock and awe" shall we
The intimidation .. did a certain bush tell saddam he had 24 hours to leave the country even Though it seems saddam was willing to hold United nation's monitored Democratic elections
Coercion now that an interesting word

I seem to remember i certain Mr Rumsfeld being asked the question .. "sir what constitutes victory in this war on terror , how will we know we have won ?"
the reply ...

"Victory is persuading the American people and the rest of the world that this is not a quick matter that’s going to be over in a month or a year or even five years,"

so victory is convincing the american people that this isnt going to end soon(if at all) so you better get used to all these bombs and deaths and once you have got used to it . then .. we have won !

That sounds like coercion to me

It seems to be safe i am going to have to avoid all government web sites in the US and UK for fear of arrest

(I wonder how long it will be before the first legal challenges if this becomes law)

My point ?

Well terrorism is a tactic, its exact definition is arguable to the extreme . The insurgents in Iraq and many people in the middle east view Bush and Blair as terrorists and politics aside they are not breaking any literary rules

How do they suppose to enforce this ?

How do you know what "they" have choosen to be "terrorist web sites"?

Again .. who knows ?

WAS IT SUICIDE ?

the Daily Mirror in London has picked up on a few details of the London bombings that dont make sense . i have to admit many of the issues raised by the Mirror have entered my mind too

Here

strange facts :

Why did they buy return train tickets to Luton ?
Why did they buy pay & display tickets for cars ?
Why were bombs in bags and not on their bodies?
why were None of the men heard to cry "Allah Akhbar!" - "God is great" - usually screamed by suicide bombers as they detonate their bomb. ?
why did they carry wallets containing their driving licences, bank cards ?

none of this fits the pattern that would be expected from suicide bombings

Additionally, two of the bombers had strong personal reasons for staying alive.
Jermaine Lindsay's partner Samantha Lewthwaite, 22, mother of his one-year-old son, is expecting her second baby within days. Mohammed Sidique Khan's wife Hasina, mum of a 14-month-old daughter, is also pregnant.

the mirror believes that the bombers may have been duped into thinking they would surivive
and the theory sounds plausible ..

thats the problem "plausible" , many things are plausible .

the one thing that the mirror doesn't seem to have included is that it is clear from the photographs released of the underground trains that no attempt was made by the bombers to remove the rucksacks . the blast pattern matches clearly with devices in rucksacks detonated whilst being worn .. so if they thought they would survive surely they would have removed the pack before setting the timer ? .

it seems clear to me that they had no idea at all of what they were doing .

SUICIDE bomber Lindsay Jamal’s wife last night insisted: “They’ll have to prove to me he did it.”
Pregnant Samantha Lewthwaite, 22, refused to accept Jamal was the fourth London bomber, responsible for 26 deaths. She sobbed: “He wasn’t the sort of person who’d do this. I won’t believe it until I see proof.”
The Sun

these facts could also fit with a highly evolved descendant of MK-Ultra .

who knows ?

if your interested in the backgrounds of the four "suicide bombers" more detail can be found Here

seem odd to you ? (incase you missed it)

This article was published many months ago , but it looks like the story is finally making it into the main stream media so i have decided to publish it again for reference

it seem's that yet more evidence is building up to suggest Abu Musab al-Zarqawi the number one "terrorist" in iraq was captured a few months ago Here

"Al-Zarqawi has been arrested by Iraqi police and US military close to the border with Syria, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported"

What's odd you say ?

Well it seem's as soon as America's number one target was detained , he was quickly released ! Now remember The United States has offered a $25 million reward for al-Zarqawi's capture or death so why was he released ?

Stupidity is what they want you to believe . the story goes as follows
Here but those wanting the short version the answer is they failed to recognise him !

Sorry i dont buy that .. and to put it futher i smell a rat !

“We . . . will prepare ourselves for the destruction of all of the cities east of Xian. Of course the Americans will have to be prepared that hundreds . . . of cities will be destroyed by the Chinese.”
