Iraq : Last throws for october 20th

Oct 20 (Reuters) - Following are security incidents reported in Iraq on Thursday, Oct. 20, as of 1520 GMT.

* TIKRIT - The governor of Salahaddin province north of Baghdad survived an assassination attempt when a roadside bomb exploded near his convoy, damaging three cars, while he was driving north towards Baiji, one of his aides said.

* KARABILA - A U.S. Marine was killed by a suicide car bomb on Wednesday in the vicinity of Karabila, in western Iraq near the Syrian border, the U.S. military said.

SAMARRA - Four civilians were killed and 18 seriously wounded on Wednesday when mortar rounds landed on the city of Samarra, 170 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, local authorities said.

KHALIS - One policeman was killed and three wounded when a truck full of explosives driven by a suicide bomber exploded near the base of Iraqi rapid reaction forces in Khalis, 70 km (45 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

RAMADI - Police said clashes broke out in several districts of Ramadi, 110 km (68 miles) west of Baghdad, between insurgents and U.S and Iraqi Army forces. One civilian was killed and another wounded, doctor Talib al-Dulaimy said.

BALAD - Three U.S soldiers were killed and one wounded on Wednesday when a roadside bomb targeted their convoy near Balad, 90 km (55 miles) north of Baghdad, the U.S military said in a statement.

TIKRIT - A U.S soldier was killed and four wounded on Wednesday when their vehicle caught fire near Tikrit, 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, the U.S military said in a statement.

KIRKUK - A secondary oil pipeline was set on fire when a bomb planted beside it exploded in the northern city of Kirkuk. The attack on the pipeline that feeds the route to Turkey has cut exports by 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 600,000 bpd, an Iraqi oil official said on Thursday.
BAIJI - One Iraqi soldier was killed by gunmen in Baija, 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, local authorities said.

BAGHDAD - An Iraqi intelligence officer was killed and three of his guards wounded by gunmen in the southern Dora district of the capital. Police said he was attacked while heading to work.

BAGHDAD - A child and two guards were killed and four children wounded when a mortar round landed on a school in the southern Mansour district of the capital, police said.

ISKANDARIYA - Three people were killed when gunmen wearing army uniforms attacked a house in Iskandariya, just south of Baghdad, killing the father of the family and his sons, police said.

KAMISHLI - Five bodies were found in the small town of Kamishli, 65 km (40 miles) south of Baghdad. Police said they were shot dead.

BAQUBA - Five civilians were killed and 13 wounded when a car driven by a suicide bomber in a car blew himself up in Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
